After Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (1708-1787). Oil on canvas-laid board titled “Penitent Magdalene” after Batoni’s now-lost original, depicting Mary Magdalene in a wooded grove wearing a blue robe. She reads a text and a skull lies next to the manuscript. Circa late 18th-early 19th c.
