Meet Your Local Specialist
Selling family heirlooms is personal. You shouldn’t have to ship your valuables to a faceless PO Box in New York or Los Angeles just to get a fair evaluation.
I’m Olivia Lonetti, the Jewelry Specialist at Revere Auctions. I work directly with families in the Twin Cities—from Wayzata to Summit Avenue—to evaluate their estate jewelry. Whether you have a single Art Deco ring or a safety deposit box filled , I will research every stone and hallmark to ensure you understand exactly what you have before we bring it to market. “We don’t just weigh the gold. We value the history, the maker, and the artistry.” — Olivia Lonetti
Why Auction Beats a “Cash Offer”
Local jewelers and gold buyers need to buy low so they can resell for a profit. We work differently. We sell for you, directly to collectors, taking only a transparent commission. Our incentives are perfectly alined.

Frequently Asked Questions About Selling Jewelry
General Questions & Process
What is the best way to sell jewelry in Minneapolis?
The “best” way depends on your timeline and the value of your items.. For fine estate jewelry, signed designer pieces, and high-value diamonds, selling through a specialist auction house like Revere Auctions is superior. We market your items to a global audience of collectors, which often results in a significantly higher final sale price than a local cash buyout.
What is the difference between an appraisal and a market valuation?
This is a critical distinction. An insurance appraisal states the “replacement cost” (what it would cost to buy the item new at a retail store today), which is often quite high. A market valuation (or “auction estimate”) is what the item is likely to sell for on the secondary market. At Revere, we provide free market valuations to give you a realistic expectation of what you will pocket from a sale.
Do you buy jewelry outright or only take consignments?
We primarily operate on consignment, which aligns our interests with yours: the more your item sells for, the more we both make. However, for certain exceptional pieces or large estate collections where immediate liquidity is needed, we may consider a direct purchase. Please contact our St. Paul gallery to discuss your specific situation. That being said, if you need fast cash we can help you. Some times you just need money today for your jewelry.
How long does the auction process take?
We hold Fine Jewelry & Luxury Accessories auctions approximately every 6–8 weeks. Once you consign, your item is researched, professionally photographed, and marketed for about 3–4 weeks prior to the sale. You typically receive payment 30 days after the auction concludes.
Selling Diamonds & Engagement Rings
Where can I sell my diamond engagement ring for the most money?
Reselling a diamond ring can be difficult because retail markups are high. To get the most money, you need to bypass the local dealer (who needs to buy low to resell) and sell directly to an end-user. Revere Auctions places your ring in front of retail buyers and collectors worldwide who are competing to wear the item, often allowing you to recover more value than a pawn shop or “cash for gold” offer.
Does my diamond need a GIA certificate to be sold?
Having a GIA certificate is highly beneficial and adds value, but it is not required. Our in-house gemologists can evaluate your stone. If we believe obtaining a new GIA report will significantly increase the bidding price of your diamond, we can facilitate that process on your behalf as part of the consignment.
Do you sell "Old Mine Cut" or "European Cut" diamonds?
Yes, we specialize in antique diamond cuts. While modern jewelers often recut these stones (losing weight), we have a dedicated client base of antique collectors who specifically seek out Old Mine, Old European, and Rose Cut diamonds for their unique charm and history.
Estate & Inherited Jewelry
I inherited a jewelry collection. Do I need to clean it before bringing it in?
No. Please do not clean antique jewelry before showing it to us. Harsh chemicals or improper scrubbing can damage delicate enamel, patina, or softer stones like emeralds and pearls. Bring the items in “as-is,” and our specialists will handle any necessary professional cleaning.
How do I sell a large estate jewelry collection in the Twin Cities?
For large estates, we offer a “white glove” service. We can schedule a private walkthrough at your home or bank vault in the Metro area (Minneapolis, St. Paul, Edina, Wayzata, etc.). We will sort the collection into “auction-grade” pieces and “scrap/bullion” value items, ensuring you get the best route for every single piece.
Are there tax implications for selling inherited jewelry?
In general, you only pay taxes on the profit made above the value of the item at the time of inheritance (the “stepped-up basis”). Since most estate jewelry is sold shortly after inheritance, there is often little to no capital gains tax owed. Please note: Revere Auctions does not provide tax advice; we recommend consulting with your Minnesota CPA or estate attorney.
Watches & Designer Brands
What watch brands retain the most value at auction?
The “Blue Chip” brands that consistently perform best at auction are Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Cartier. However, we also see strong results for vintage mechanical watches from Omega, Vacheron Constantin, and Breitling.
Does the original box and paperwork matter for selling a watch?
Yes. For luxury watches, having the original box, warranty papers, and service records can increase the final sale price by 10% to 20%. Please bring everything you have found with the watch, even if the box is damaged.
What specific jewelry eras are popular right now?
We are currently seeing aggressive bidding for Art Deco (1920s-30s) platinum and diamond jewelry, Mid-Century Modern gold pieces, and Victorian archaeological revival styles. Signed pieces from makers like Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, David Webb, Cartier and Buccellati are always in high demand.
