Clement Bernard Haupers (American, 1900-1982). Oil on board jazz era painting depicting a line of chorus dancers on stage with a band playing in the pit just offstage, 1926. Signed and dated along the upper left. Clement Bernard Haupers was a St. Paul born American painter, printmaker, arts administrator, and arts educator active from the 1920s to the 1980s. He is best known for his directorship of the Minnesota Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project and for his influence in the Minnesota art community.
