Jasper Johns “Two Flags (Whitney)” Lithograph

Jasper Johns (American, b. 1930). Lithograph on heavy wove paper titled “Two Flags (50th Anniversary of the Whitney Museum),” 1980. Text printed along the lower right reads: “Poster: Jasper Johns. Stony Johns, Inc. and Gemini G.E.L. 1979.” This print commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in 1980. For this event, the Whitney also received Johns’ iconic painting titled “Three Flags,” 1958, as a gift. In this commemorative print, Johns returns to the American flag as the subject matter and exemplifies his skill as master printmaker. Height: 46 in x width: 30 in.
