Warren MacKenzie (American, 1924-2018). Studio pottery tea bowl with an irregularly shaped rim. Stoneware with dark brown and tan glaze. Marked above the footrim. Warren MacKenzie was a renowned Minnesota studio potter. A student of Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, he is credited with bringing the functional Mingei tradition to the United States, and spreading it through his own art and mentorship of students during his long tenure at the University of Minnesota.
