William Wegman “3=5” Dogs Photograph Diptych

William Wegman (American, b. 1943). Photograph diptych titled “3=5,” 1991, depicting a total of five dogs–three on the left, two on the right–against a rose colored background. William Wegman is best known for his compositions of dogs, especially those of Weimaraner dogs, such as those in this work. On the left panel, initialed, dated ’91, and inscribed “L” in ink along the lower right. On the right panel, inscribed “R” in ink along the lower left; titled “3=5” in ink along the lower center; signed and dated ’91 in ink along the lower right.
