Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860-1935). Exhibition poster for the Salon des Cent (“Salon of the One Hundred”) in Paris which held exhibitions selling graphic artists’ prints, posters, and reproductions for reasonable prices from 1894 to 1900. This poster is from the year 1896 and is signed in plate along the lower left. Poster reads: “XX me Exposition du Salon aes Cent (mars – april 1896) Hall de la Plume. Entree: 0.50. 31 rue Bonaparte – Paris.” Includes a publication of William Walton’s “Paris: Known & Unknown,” Part 18, Philadelphia: G. Barrie & Son, 1898. This illustrated publication was released in twenty-five parts and includes articles about Paris and its transportation, monuments, religion, history, and other cultural topics of interest.
